My journey with food hasn't always been straightforward. Living alone, I often found myself in a culinary rut, viewing meals as mere necessities rather than moments of enjoyment. The idea of preparing a comforting 'Sunday dinner' for one seemed unnecessary, leading me to settle for uninspired meals.
This perspective shifted dramatically during the UK's first COVID-19 lockdown. As panic buying ensued, I noticed a troubling pattern: people stockpiling food without understanding how to use it effectively, resulting in significant waste. I began sharing simple, resourceful meal ideas on social media, aiming to help others make the most of their ingredients. The response was overwhelming, revealing a widespread lack of food knowledge and confidence in the kitchen.
These experiences ignited a passion within me to bridge this gap. I realised that many individuals, regardless of their circumstances, desired to make better food choices but lacked the necessary tools and understanding. This realisation led to the creation of SimpliciB, a platform dedicated to empowering people to cook and eat well, no matter their time constraints, budget, or culinary skills.
At SimpliciB, I focus on delivering engaging workshops that demystify food. From exploring the connection between diet and mental well-being to providing practical tips for reducing food waste, my goal is to make healthy eating accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
